A Hamilton night club is having its liquour license pulled by the province.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (ACGO) says Club 33, a downtown bar, has violated the Liquour License and Control Act numerous times and says it is following the steps needed to revoke the Hamilton club’s license.

An AGCO report points out numerous offences by Club 33 discovered during several inspections over the last year, including the bar serving liquour after hours and customers serving themselves liquor from the bar.

Other infractions included management presenting “false information,” staff not having Smart Serve certification, as well as having several blocked emergency fire exits, not complying with the provincial fire code.

The AGCO says it is pulling the club’s liquor license to help ensure the public’s safety.

“All liquor licence holders in Ontario are required to operate with honesty and integrity and in a way that doesn’t endanger their patrons or the community around them,” said Dr. Karin Schnarr, the AGCO’s CEO.

“When an establishment is unable or unwilling to meet its obligations, the AGCO will take the necessary steps to protect the public.”

Club 33 owners can appeal the AGCO decision through a tribunal.
