Hamilton police officer charged in domestic-related incident

A 40-year-old Hamilton police officer is facing charges in connection with a domestic-related incident.

The 17-year member of the Hamilton Police Service has been charged by Niagara Regional Police, who were asked to investigate the matter after local police became aware of an alleged Intimate Partner Violence incident.

The Hamilton police officer is charged with the following:

  • Harassment by means of repeated telecommunications
  • Uttering threats – property
  • Mischief under $5,000

The office is currently on medical leave and is scheduled to appear in a St. Catharines court on June 23, 2024.

The is the second domestic violence incident involving a Hamilton Police officer this year. A 38-year-old, seven-year member of the service was similarly accused back in May.

This officer was charged with assault with a weapon, robbery and mischief under $5,000.

Hamilton Police did not disclose the officer’s rank, on which salary is based. However, the average Hamilton Police Constable’s salary is $91,909 to $100,183 per year.
