Pride flag set on fire at Stoney Creek school, identity of suspects sought

Hamilton Police are looking to identify four people connected to setting fire to a Pride flag at a Stoney Creek elementary school.

The public’s assistance is needed in helping to identify four people connected to setting a Pride flag on fire at a local elementary school in Stoney Creek on Monday (June 24).

Hamilton Police believe the arson to be a hate-motivated crime.

At around 10 p.m., two people were seen running away after allegedly setting fire to a Pride flag at a school located near Barton Street and Fifty Road in Stoney Creek.

Two other people were also seen running in the same direction.

The four people are described as:

Suspect One

  • Height: Five-foot-seven to five-foot-11
  • Age: 15 to 19 years old
  • Hair: Dark, medium length, puffy
  • Clothing: Black t-shirt, orange shorts, black shoes

Suspect Two

  • Height: Five-foot-eight to six-feet
  • Age: 15 to 19 years old
  • Hair: short, brown
  • Clothing: White t-shirt, blue/grey shorts, black shoes

Suspect Three

  • Height: Five-foot-seven to five-foot-11
  • Age: 15 to 19 years old
  • Hair: short, black
  • Clothing: Black t-shirt, black shorts, white shoes

Suspect Four

  • Height: Five-foot-seven to five-foot-11
  • Age: 15 to 19 years old
  • Hair: short, dark
  • Clothing: Black t-shirt, black shorts, white shoes

Police, who are investigating the incident along with the Hate Crime Unit, are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or have video between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. to come forward.
