SCHOOL LOCKDOWN: Hamilton school in lockdown due to possible weapon

A high school in Hamilton is in lockdown due to the possible presence of a weapon in the building.
Around 1:15 p.m. on April 17, Hamilton police took to social media to announce that Cathedral High School, located in the Wentworth Street North and King Street East area, initiated a lockdown following reports of a possible weapon.
Police say officers are actively searching the premises.
“It’s crucial to emphasize that both staff and students are safe at this time, with police on-site,” police wrote on X.

UPDATE: Police have lifted the lockdown.
“The staff and students remained safe. We thank everyone as our officers continue to maintain a presence at and around the school and investigate the information provided,” police wrote on X.
